Demon News

Portfolio on 1 October 2005

Demon News coverDemon News was a customer magazine for Demon Internet, the first company ever to offer UK consumers a pay-monthly flat-fee dial-up Internet connection and now the consumer division of THUS plc.

The quarterly title had been successfully originated by an agency, but they’d allowed it to grow slightly stale and were asking an unrealistic fee per issue. I worked with marketing agency Kazoom Ltd to give THUS a better product and better value. As well as completely redesigning the magazine, I wrote many of the articles, interviewing Demon clients and staff, and commissioned the photography, a straightforward task until the first edition turned out to feature a client in one of the remotest parts of Scotland. I tracked down a photographer willing to make the trip within budget, and we got a lovely shot.
