Apple’s LCD screens are among the most beautiful electronic devices in the world, but a serious challenger was revealed at the recent CeBit electronics show. While Jonathan Ive’s creations hold the translucent/elegant front, Danish manufacturer Eyegonomic has annexed a chunk of minimal/industrial territory with the T17: four-and-a-half kilos of aluminium sculpted into a picture frame of a monitor poised on a cleanly curled support. The display can be rotated for portrait use, and the shape allows your keyboard to be tucked away underneath.
Twenty/20 isn’t the betting kind (sorry, Blackpool), but we expect the next wave of Apple kit to go this way*. To quote Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes: ‘I’m telling you, this is the next shit.’
*It did: compare the next iMac.
