Ladies and gentlemen, allow us to present, in our occasional series of Very Silly Exhibitions, this forthcoming event in the Design Museum’s Tank, the riverside micro-gallery you can visit between meals. Disappointed by the lack of wackiness already extant in the design world (they obviously haven’t been round Matali Crasset’s house lately), our Design Museum chums have dipped into the pockets of Switzerland’s arts council to commission reinterpretations of the traditional Swiss milking stool, or ‘botte-cul’, as it’s called by people with no upbringing.

Ora-ïto, a French whippersnapper specialising in designing imaginary products, has sensibly added a sprung bicycle seat. Brazilians Fernando and Humberto Campagna have transformed the whole thing into a sort of glowy white iStool. Pierre-Yves Dubois, a tutor at Lausanne’s ECAL design college, has built in a PlayStation controller, though he doesn’t say how it plugs into the cow.

Most brilliantly of all, British entrant Sebastian Bergne has managed to combine the milking stool with – a seat! Genius.
